Worldometers is a project promoted by a team of concerned people. Poverty, hunger or global warming are issues we should all be worried about as they’re part of a collective responsibility. The presented numbers and statistics are simple projections but they’re all based on offical data collected from more than 15o sources.

Worldometers author’s are also behind Stop The Hunger. Both interesting enough to be worthy of you time.

Maps of War placed an interesting flash presentation online where you can observe the geographical evolution of Democracy during the last 4000 years. From Arwad until today, 40 centuries in 90 seconds.

Primarily associated with two dimensional images, it includes: art, signs, photography, typography, drawing fundamentals, colour and electronic resources. Recent research in the field has focused on web design and graphically oriented usability. It is part of what a graphic designer does to communicate visually with the audience.

Wonderlost is a Raymond Sepulveda project based on is own interpretation (on a very noir kind of way) of Lewis Carroll characters. The most interesting aspect is achieved by the contrast between the white porcelain on the characters faces, the blood and the extreme black elements.

Also very interesting is the fact that the artist didn’t use any 3D software. All the artwork’s done with a mix of Illustrator and Photoshop and, of course, Raymond Sepulveda’s mastery of the airbrushing technique.

Visible Body is probably one of the most interesting, important and well developed projects I’ve seen lately. It is, I guess, the best free virtual anatomy browser I came across on the web. Very complete, I suppose, and created to be used by professionals and regular users like me. It seems to allow users to search and locate anatomical structures by using text-search, layer observation, hiding, etc. Judging by the help videos and tutorials it’s, in fact amazing, but honestly… I can only imagine.

I can only imagine because Visible Body, tough built for every type of user, wasn’t unfortunately built for every type of operating system and every browser. Get an MS Windows (XP or Vista) copy and IE if you want to take advantage of what the project has to offer.

Estamos is a different way to look at World News. Though the project’s Spanish the site seems to speak a universal language.

Oriental Gallery is nothing more than a simple web design gallery and showcase. Still, imho, it reaches an impressive degree of innovation. The author’s own words are more than enough to understand what I mean.

There are tons of website galleries, most of them are showing the same websites over and over again mainly from Europe. As a web designer, we would like to design something that really standout. By doing that, we need to widen our eyes by looking at different kind of design style by different kind of people, so that we can get infinity and variety of inspiration.

Oriental websites and European websites are so different, because the designers have different culture and experience. You should be very familiar with European design style by now. It is a good idea to get some inspiration from oriental style websites as well. Oriental Gallery features some beautiful oriental websites you have never seen.

This interesting and unique approach gives Oriental Gallery it’s very own personality and reason for existence and transforms it in a mandatory place if in a quest for inspiration.

The “Atmospheric Pollution” project, developed by DreamAddictiveLab (Carmen Gonzalez and Leslie Garcia from Tijuana /Mexico), is a visual representation of the anthropogenic (human activities) contaminants issued to the Earth’s atmosphere. The interface offers some information filtering and setting options that for sure will come handy on understanding the displayed data.

Atmospheric Pollution is, yet another, private initiative that try to promote information distribution on such a vital issue as contaminant emission to Earth’s atmosphere. The data used on the project comes from several origins in which is included Wikipedia, EDGAR, UNFCC, NASA, ESA and CARMA (reviewed on 2.0 Webmania [PT]).
